A FEW SECONDS. A CLEARER PICTURE.

Meet your internet,
without the guesswork.

A WiFi speed test measures the connection between this device and a test server. It reflects your internet plan, wireless conditions, the route to the server, and what else is happening on your network.

01 / RECEIVE

Download

How quickly data reaches you. Think streaming, opening websites, and saving files. More Mbps means more capacity.

02 / SEND

Upload

How quickly you send data. Useful for video calls, cloud backups, and sharing large files.

03 / RESPOND

Latency & jitter

Latency is a round trip to our server. Jitter shows variation between those trips. Lower and steadier is generally better.

04 / MAKE IT BETTER

A fair test

Close other downloads, stay near your router, and test again at a different time for a more useful comparison.

THREE SMALL STEPS

Make your next test count.

All internet tips ↗
01

Settle your network.

Pause downloads, cloud sync, and streaming. Stay on the WiFi network you want to check.

02

Give it a GO.

Keep this tab in the foreground. The test measures response time, download, and upload in turn.

03

Compare, then improve.

Repeat in another room or on Ethernet. Your local history makes the difference easy to see.

Why a fast connection can still feel slow

Capacity is only part of the story. Response time, busy uploads, and the route to a service all play a role.

GOOD QUESTIONS.

A few things
worth knowing.

Clear answers before and after your test.

How do I check my WiFi speed?+

Connect to your WiFi, pause other heavy network activity, and select GO. Keep the tab open while the test measures download, upload, HTTP latency, and jitter. Repeat in different rooms to compare your connection.

What is a good WiFi speed?+

It depends on what you do and how many devices share the connection. This site uses 5 Mbps as an indicative HD streaming threshold and 25 Mbps for 4K. Calls and gaming also depend on stable upload and response time. These are guides, not service guarantees.

Why is my WiFi speed slow?+

Distance, walls, interference, busy devices, your broadband plan, congestion, and the route to the test server can all reduce the result. Compare a test close to the router with an Ethernet test before drawing conclusions.

What is the difference between download and upload speed?+

Download measures data arriving at your device; upload measures data leaving it. Streaming mostly downloads. Video calls, sharing photos, and cloud backups also rely on upload capacity.

What are ping and jitter?+

Our latency figure is the average round-trip duration of small HTTP requests. Jitter is the average absolute difference between successive round trips. This is application latency, not a precise ICMP ping or a direct measure of radio interference.

How can I improve my WiFi speed?+

Move the router into an open, central position. Test nearer to it, pause competing transfers, compare frequency bands if available, and try Ethernet. Repeat at different times and compare against your plan before contacting your provider.

Is this WiFi speed test free?+

Yes. No account or payment is required. The test transfers real data and may use up to the configured data budget shown in settings, so normal mobile or metered connection charges can still apply.

Does this speed test work on mobile?+

Yes, in modern browsers with streaming Fetch support. Tests reflect whichever network your phone uses at the time. Background throttling, battery saving, VPNs, and changing networks can affect results.
